Avinash is a post-graduate English literature student from Mysore University. Before making debut in film, he taught English at NIE, Mysore, and MES college in Bangalore for sometime. He acted in more than 100 films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films. He is married to popular Lawyer-actress Malavika.
