First it was made in Malayalam as Katha Parayumbol with Mammootty and Sreenivasan, after which Priyadarshan is remaking it in Hindi as Billoo Barber with Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan Khan. The Tamil version, Kuselan, starring Rajnikanth, is ready for release in July, and so is the Telugu version, Kathanayakadu.
And now, Ramesh Aravind is all set to remake Kuselan in Kannada and the buzz is that the makers of Kuselan have approached Golden Star Ganesh to play Rajini’s role.
So what’s unique about Katha Parayumbol that so many filmmakers are remaking it in various languages? The script is about two childhood friends, and how one goes on to become a star, while the other becomes a barber.
