Renuka was very keen that Jackie Shroff plays the lead in her directorial debut and approached him with the script. After hearing the script Jackie was emotionally moved, as the story is very similar to his mom’s and surprisingly his mom’s name is also Rita .
Jackie says, “I have read the novel written by Shanta Gokhale. It is one of her best works. I was really touched by the sensitivity of the story when I read the book.
